Donation Information

The Gaithersburg - Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department is supported by both County tax funds and contributions from our community. Your contributions are necessary, and welcome, because County funds alone do not approach meeting the cost of the supplies and equipment needed to serve the 127,000 people in GWGVFD's "first due" area.

To supplement the County funds the GWGVFD solicits funds by mail, in our community newsletter.

We NEVER solicit by telephone and, at the request of our citizens, we no longer solicit door-to-door.

Donations are used for items such as automatic electronic defibrillators for our units, backboards and other emergency medical equipment, uniforms and protective gear. They have also been used to replace and maintain our "canteen" vehicle, used to provide rehabilitation services on incident scenes, and a Fire Safety House, to teach fire safety information to children.
