HAZMAT BOX 8-21 (09/25/07)

(GAITHERSBURG) - Around 8:55am, Gaithersburg Engine 81 was dispatched to 18727 Falling River Driver for the broken outside gas service (BOGS). Upon arrival, a 2" gas line was found to have been ruptured and leaking gas in the surrounding area. A hazmat box was requested at 9:06am bringing in Gaithersburg Aerial Tower 8, Medic 89, Ambulance 86 and other MCFRS units including hazmat units. The gas company arrived shortly after to stop the gas leak and repair the line. Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
