HENKEL ELECTED GWGVFD PRESIDENT

(Gaithersburg) - Daniel G. (Bud) Henkel has been elected president of the Gaithersburg - Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Henkel replaces Kenneth D. Fisher, who served as president since mid-1985 and who chose not to run again.

Henkel, 47, is an active firefighter who serves as the Station Commander of Station 28 on Muncaster Mill Road. He been a member of the GWGVFD since 1989 and has served two terms on its Board of Directors.
"The fire-rescue service has changed dramatically since I started in Gaithersburg," says Henkel. "These days it's more important than ever for the volunteer and career staff of our department to provide the best possible service to the people of the Gaithersburg area."

Henkel lives on Hutton Street in Gaithersburg with his wife, MaryBeth, who is an administrative member of the GWGVFD. He works as a postal carrier at the Derwood post office. Henkel will serve a two-year term as president, beginning in January 2002.

Kenneth V. Kopp as Assistant Chief.
